I was not alone, everyone in my family had to do his/her part as we "clean" the old house thoroughly for the upcoming tenants (we're renting the house out for extra income, no more "holiday villa" *sob*sob*)..
There are some activities you dread doing, but once started, you can't stop because you get engrossed to it. Packing and unpacking OLD stuff are one of them :) I had great surprises n joy (forget the dust n dirt) going thru the many things my family had n kept in the near 30-year house..
Of all the things, I enjoyed finding those old cassettes!! Man, talk to any high-schoolers or collegians nowadays.. they may never play or own a cassette before!
Here are some shots of those CASSETTES.. like mentioning the word now, haven't been using it for awhile, may not have a chance to use it in near future..

Wonder no more how I master Chinese without classes/tuition.. these cassettes were my teachers from my younger days..
These were my brother's and he insisted on keeping them, huh?
Obviously, among those years' Heavenly King of HK singers - our choices were Jacky Cheung n Andy Lau, owning many of their albums.. some were not in these shots..
Had 1-2 of Leon Lai's n none of Aaron Kwok's..
Oh, we had all Tony Leung's albums (he had two only) and I always wonder why it didn't work out well.. There were great songs in them..
Check out the compilation album at the corner of this shot.. we had many such compilation albums, but I threw them mercilessly away..
And some of the old English-language albums too..
Who can forget the boybands..

Aiyo, I used to love those mushy retardedly-written songs so much.. abit ashamed to even admit owning them at times :p Jimmy Lin's album was one of them but it's not in the photo!
Me n my bro were fans of Hong Kong's Beyond too.. so these albums were priceless. I think I learnt singing (and reading) Cantonese mostly thru their songs..
Tommy Page and Richard Marx too!! those were the days..
No many ppl knew of a group called 3T (3 nephews of Michael Jackson) n I've forgotten how I got to know of them then n bought their album..
Now after taking these shots, looking at the decades-old cassettes.. after reminishing the old times, to throw or not to throw?? Arghhhh... where's the box again??
7 feedbacks:
哇...突然间,好怀念过去的日子!!
oh my~ to keep or not to keep?! haha...
should keep one or two of those, at least next time can show to our next generation(sons/daughters, grandson maybe) that we have something call "cassettes" last time...
Din know u liked Jimmy Lin too! Sadly, there's an Aaran Kwok's album in my hse, definitely not mine ;-P Yup, i remember ur keen interest in boybands.. Fyi, me still keep my antique cassettes, but i got rid of all of my magazines (yup, lots of intvw sessions + idols info) plus posters (including my beautiful ones of Charlie Yeung etc..). Proud to say, me only hav 1 drawer n 3 cabinets with my old stuff now in the old hse near urs.
