This one for the children

Those who knew me long enough know that I’m no child-person, meaning small kids may not love me like they would to a another ‘jie jie’ or aunty who is natural with kids. That’s ok, because it’s mutual.

Incongruous to that, a child’s development and safety issues somehow are very close to my heart. Peculiar but time and again, I found myself respond most in these. Basic psychology reading will tell that many character-building or conscience or whatever that’s related to it started since early childhood and any insult during those precious years will affect beyond childhood to adulthood and every other milestones. That explains a little why men and women behave the way they do, could’ve traced down to their upbringing roots. I’m no preacher on this, but at least I’m informed that one way to have a better tomorrow is to be a responsible adult to children today. Ahem… peace talk!

Now how did I get into this subject? I’ve just treated myself to a great DVD – Marc Forster’s “The Kite Runner” based on a book by Khaled Hosseini that told as much humanity as of kids in during Taliban’s reign in Afghanistan. Such synopsis doesn’t sound appealing huh, the innocence of children meeting the ugly beast nature of men.

I wanted to read the book actually, but since the DVD has released, why not let the words come live to me instead and save my eyes from all the strain of reading. Highly recommended!!
