Minding my words

Today I ponder on Proverbs 15:1-4 that speaks of

A soft answer turns away wrath,

but a harsh word stirs up anger.

The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,

but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

The eyes of the LORD are in every place,

keeping watch the evil and the good.

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,

but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Sometimes I can be very argumentative and overly aggressive in expression, at times unusually quiet (very rare actually).. most of the time, impatient is my real problem.

Recently, I give a lot of thoughts on how I speak after meeting a whole new group of friends in campus - from various backgrounds etc. Very interesting indeed to note that how you speak really tells alot about who you are, your agendas and all.

And I noticed my own sarcasm when I talk to impatient people lately, not that I never realized.. here, my problem too like them is impatience. Why, I could not tell.. mmm.. why the rush?

I never liked my own sarcastic reply, never been proud of it. I really wanna round those sharp edges..

Jesus Christ in his great wisdom said "Out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks" (Luke 6:45).

So it's really me. I cannot justify anymore that I'm provoked to do so.. my reaction is my sole responsibility and to sound noble by saying it serve right to some people's poor attitude is really not acceptable actually..

If I love peace and unity, the control of the tongue is where I have to start with..

Yea, difficult to change what has been practiced for so long but possible. Slowly but surely.
